Lenovo Redefines Workstation Power with New ThinkStation Line

At this year’s NXT BLD event, Lenovo made a bold statement about the future of professional workstations, announcing a sweeping refresh of its ThinkStation desktop portfolio and debuting an ambitious new lineup of Workstation Solutions. Purpose-built for power users—engineers, designers, architects, data scientists, and creators—these new systems are designed to handle the heavy lifting of AI workloads, spatial computing, and hybrid workflows.
Smarter Workflows, Purpose-Built Solutions
Today’s businesses demand more than just powerful hardware; they need end-to-end workflow solutions that simplify deployment, enhance performance, and scale with modern demands. That’s exactly what Lenovo aims to deliver with its new Workstation Solutions: curated, industry-specific blueprints combining Lenovo ThinkStation and ThinkPad P Series workstations powered by the latest Intel Core Ultra processors, AMD chips, and NVIDIA RTX PRO GPUs, alongside ISV-certified software.
- Lenovo is focusing these solutions on three core areas:
- Anytime, anywhere access to high-performance workstations
- AI development tools to accelerate data-to-insight workflows
- Spatial computing solutions for building immersive virtual environments
By blending cutting-edge hardware with specialized software, services, and accessories, Lenovo’s Workstation Solutions promise seamless integration across remote and hybrid workforces.
Lenovo Access: Bringing Workstation Power to Remote Desktops
The standout among Lenovo’s new solutions is Lenovo Access—a comprehensive remote workstation access framework. As hybrid and remote work models become the norm, many industries need workstation-grade performance without chaining their employees to a desk. Lenovo Access addresses that need head-on.
At its core, Lenovo Access is built around rack-mounted ThinkStation P3 Ultra SFF workstations running Mechdyne’s TGX remote graphics protocol, delivering a 1:1 connection to powerful, physical workstations in a secure, scalable environment. These small but mighty machines feature:
- Up to Intel® Core Ultra processors (5.7GHz turbo)
- NVIDIA RTX 4000 SFF Ada Generation GPUs
- 128GB dual-channel DDR5 memory
- Up to 16TB of storage
The system avoids the pitfalls of shared virtualized servers by giving each user dedicated resources for real-time, high-performance, remote collaboration. The blueprint also integrates Lenovo ThinkStation BMC, Intel vPro AMT, and AMD DASH for advanced remote management and security, all fortified by Lenovo’s ThinkShield platform.
“Many workstation users have very precise demands, and we’re building solutions that help them meet those head-on, faster and smarter,” said Rob Herman, Vice President of Worldwide Workstation and Client AI Business at Lenovo.
The Next Generation of ThinkStation Workstations
Alongside the new Workstation Solutions, Lenovo unveiled updated models in its popular ThinkStation P2 and P3 desktop series, each fine-tuned for demanding AI, design, engineering, and data science workloads.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming:
▶ ThinkStation P3 Tower Gen 2
A powerhouse for AI-optimized workflows, offering Intel Core Ultra 9 processors with integrated NPUs and up to NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q graphics (coming Q3 2025). It delivers up to 3,500 TOPS, plus expanded DDR5 memory and enhanced storage flexibility via upgraded RAID options.
▶ ThinkStation P3 Ultra SFF Gen 2
This compact marvel fits serious AI and graphics muscle into a sub-4-liter chassis, featuring Intel Core Ultra 9 chips, NVIDIA RTX 4000 SFF Ada graphics, up to 128GB of DDR5 memory at 6400 MT/s, and PCIe Gen 5 support for lightning-fast data transfers. Designed for space-constrained hybrid offices and edge computing.
▶ ThinkStation P3 Tiny Gen 2
A workstation in a footprint 96% smaller than traditional desktops. The Tiny packs up to Intel Core Ultra 9 processors, NVIDIA RTX A1000 graphics, support for six independent displays, and expanded AI-ready workflows. Noteworthy upgrades include Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4, and 128GB of DDR5 memory.
▶ ThinkStation P2 Tower Gen 2
Lenovo’s smallest entry workstation tower at 17 liters, delivering reliable AI performance with Intel Core Ultra 9 processors and NVIDIA Ada Generation graphics. Enhanced with PCIe Gen 5 and faster memory, it’s built for budget-conscious engineers, designers, and students tackling AI, CAD, and product design.
