LG UltraFine evo 6K Monitor Debuts with Thunderbolt 5

- LG introduces the first 6K monitor with Thunderbolt 5, designed for high-performance creative workflows and professional-grade color accuracy.
Designed for Demanding Creative Workflows
LG has launched the UltraFine evo 6K (model 32U990A), the first monitor to combine 6K resolution with Thunderbolt 5 connectivity. Aimed at professionals in video editing, graphic design, and data-intensive fields, the display offers a resolution of 6144 x 3456 pixels. This high pixel density enhances clarity and detail, supporting more efficient digital workflows. The monitor builds on LG’s previous UltraFine series, which was optimized for macOS environments.
Awarded both a CES Innovation Award and an iF Design Award in 2025, the 32U990A represents LG’s latest effort to redefine professional display standards. The UltraFine evo branding signals a shift toward more specialized, high-performance monitors. With its precise image rendering and fast data handling, the device meets the needs of users who require uncompromising visual fidelity. LG positions this model as a flagship solution for creative professionals.
Visual Precision and Expanded Workspace
The 32-inch panel delivers 224 pixels per inch (PPI), resulting in sharper text and highly detailed visuals. Factory-calibrated color profiles ensure accurate reproduction, particularly for macOS users. The monitor covers 98% of the DCI-P3 and 99.5% of the Adobe RGB color spaces, making it suitable for video editing, photo retouching, and print production. VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification guarantees consistent brightness and realistic color rendering.
Studio Mode allows users to save up to three custom color profiles, enhancing flexibility across different tasks. Compared to standard 4K monitors, the 6K resolution offers 2.5 times more pixels, and dual-monitor setups can provide nearly five times the workspace. Thunderbolt-based systems support daisy-chaining, simplifying multi-display configurations. This expanded canvas improves multitasking and streamlines complex production environments.
Thunderbolt 5 Enables High-Speed Data Handling
Thunderbolt 5 integration is a key feature of the UltraFine evo 6K, offering seamless compatibility with Mac devices. The interface supports up to 120 Gbps unidirectional bandwidth, tripling the speed of Thunderbolt 4. This capability enables real-time 4K rendering and rapid transfer of 8K RAW video files, which is particularly useful for AI-assisted editing and upscaling workflows. The monitor also functions as a high-speed hub for SSDs, external GPUs, and other peripherals.
A built-in KVM switch and multiple input options allow users to toggle between macOS and Windows workflows effortlessly. Mobile content can be displayed in optimal format, while users can quickly shift to production tasks. The nearly bezel-less design and ergonomic stand support tilt and rotation, making the monitor suitable for vertical content like social media reels. Thunderbolt 5 also reduces cable clutter, contributing to a cleaner workspace.
