Finally: AI assistant coming to Galaxy A devices

Samsung Galaxy A52

Samsung has announced that its AI assistant functionality, previously exclusive to Galaxy S series devices, is finally making its way to select Galaxy A series smartphones. As part of an upcoming update, users of certain Galaxy A models will be able to activate Google’s Gemini AI assistant via the side key.

The feature will debut on the Galaxy A56 5G, A36 5G, and A26 5G models. These devices already include a range of AI-powered tools aimed at delivering a smarter and more seamless mobile experience. With this new update, users can easily manage everyday tasks — such as checking their calendar, finding nearby restaurants, or getting gift suggestions — simply by long-pressing the side button and speaking to Gemini.

Beyond simple voice commands, Gemini also enables multi-app workflows with a single request. For example, users can find a restaurant in Google Maps and instantly share the address via Messages without switching apps. The goal is to offer a smoother, more intuitive experience that works seamlessly across Samsung, Google, and other third-party applications.

Jay Kim, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business, emphasized the importance of making AI tools more accessible:
“We’re excited to announce that Galaxy A users can now effortlessly activate Gemini with a simple, natural gesture, bringing effective AI support to everyday life,” he said.

The update is set to roll out globally to eligible Galaxy A devices starting early May.
