  • Production for the next entry in the Wolfenstein series appears to be moving forward following new leaks regarding actor recruitment.
  • MachineGames has reportedly begun casting for a project codenamed “Valkyrie,” which is widely believed to be the third installment of the modern trilogy.
  • This news follows several years of speculation and recent comments from studio leadership about their desire to conclude the story of B.J. Blazkowicz.

Production Timelines and Codename Leak

Performance capture for the upcoming sequel is allegedly scheduled to begin in April 2026. Sources indicate that this intensive development phase will likely continue through 2027, suggesting a significant scope for the project. The game is currently operating under the internal title “Valkyrie” according to industry reports. Studio head Jerk Gustafsson has previously confirmed that finishing the trilogy has always been the team’s long-term intention.

A specific casting call has revealed details about a new character named Sofiya, a young Ukrainian orphan. She is accompanied by a dog named Ralph and eventually forms a close connection with the series protagonist, William “B.J.” Blazkowicz. Her description depicts a traumatized survivor who eventually finds strength while under the protection of the resistance movement. Observers are already drawing parallels to character-driven narratives featuring surrogate parent-child dynamics seen in other major titles.

MachineGames’ Expanding Project Portfolio

While development on the new Wolfenstein progresses, the studio is also preparing for the Switch 2 release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This follows the critical success of the title in 2024, which solidified the studio’s reputation for high-quality stealth-action gameplay. Beyond the gaming world, a television series based on the Wolfenstein franchise is currently in active development. Bethesda executive Todd Howard remains involved in the TV project, though official updates regarding its status have been limited.

The “Kreisau Circle” mentioned in the casting details is not just a fictional group in the game; it was a real-life German resistance group during World War II. The historical circle consisted of about twenty-five dissidents who met at an estate in Krzyżowa (then Kreisau) to plan for a democratic Germany after the fall of the Third Reich. While the game portrays them as a combat-ready militia, the actual group focused heavily on the moral and political reorganization of the state.
