Redefining Cartridge-Free Printing

Epson has rolled out its seventh generation of EcoTank cartridge-free Supertank printers with the ET-3950 and ET-4950 joining the ET-2980. Boasting enough ink in the box for up to three years of printing, both models eliminate recurring cartridge purchases by delivering ink yields equivalent to roughly 80 individual cartridges. Unique EcoFit bottles and refillable high-capacity ink tanks streamline the process: large fill-ports, color-coded caps, and keyed bottle nozzles prevent mixing mistakes. Permanent PrecisionCore printheads engineered for a printer’s lifetime replace the warm-up and wasteful heating cycles found in traditional inkjets.

Designed for Efficiency and Connectivity

Built for busy families and home offices, the ET-3950 and ET-4950 reach ISO speeds of 18 ppm in black and 9 ppm in color with zero warm-up delay. An integrated Auto Document Feeder and 250-sheet front-load tray support multi-page jobs, while auto-duplex printing and scanning save time and paper. A crisp 2.4-inch color display navigates settings, and USB, Apple AirPrint®, plus Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Agile Multiband™ ensure robust connectivity. Mobile-first workflows gain traction via the Epson Smart Panel® app, letting users print, scan, and manage jobs from iOS or Android devices. The ET-4950 steps up with fax capability and a touchscreen interface.

Availability, Pricing, and Beyond

Priced at $419.99 MSRP, the EcoTank ET-3950 ships in a clean white chassis; the ET-4950 lists for $499.99 MSRP and offers both black and white finishes. Major retailers—Office Depot, Staples, Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, Amazon, and more—carry the new line starting this month. Interesting Insight

Since its debut in 2010, Epson estimates the EcoTank platform has eliminated over 10 million plastic ink cartridges, saving users an average of 90% on ink costs. Environmental analyses show these savings translate into more than 7,500 tons of avoided plastic waste—comparable to removing over 1,000 cars’ worth of plastic from landfills. This eco-impact underscores EcoTank’s dual role: lowering running costs while offering a greener print solution for the digital age.
