LG Launches First 4th-Gen OLED Gaming Monitor

- LG’s UltraGear 27GX700A debuts with Tandem OLED tech, True Black 500 certification, and 280Hz refresh rate for high-end gaming setups.
Advanced OLED Architecture for Visual Precision
LG Electronics has unveiled the UltraGear 27GX700A, the first gaming monitor to feature fourth-generation Tandem OLED technology. This 27-inch QHD display uses a four-layer RGB structure, including separate red and green emitters and dual blue layers, to enhance brightness and color accuracy. The design marks a shift from traditional OLED panels, offering deeper contrast and improved luminance consistency. Originally developed for automotive displays, Tandem OLED now enters the gaming space with a focus on durability and performance.
The monitor is certified with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, ensuring detailed black levels and high dynamic range. It also carries UL Solutions’ “Perfect Black” certification, which verifies its ability to render dark scenes with clarity. These features are particularly useful in fast-paced games where visibility in shadowed areas can impact reaction time. LG’s implementation aims to deliver a more immersive and responsive experience for competitive players.
Color Fidelity and Eye Comfort Features
Covering 99.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, the 27GX700A offers vivid and accurate color reproduction across various lighting conditions. It has earned certifications from UL Solutions for “Perfect Color Consistency” and from Intertek for “100% Color Fidelity,” indicating reliable performance regardless of brightness levels. The panel reaches up to 1500 nits peak brightness, which enhances visibility in dynamic or sunlit gaming environments. These attributes contribute to a consistent and visually rich experience across genres.
To support extended gaming sessions, LG has included several eye comfort technologies. The monitor is certified Flicker-Free, Low Blue Light, and Discomfort Glare-Free, along with Eyesafe 3.0 compliance. These features help reduce eye strain and maintain visual clarity during long hours of use. A matte anti-reflective coating further minimizes glare, making the screen usable even in brightly lit rooms.
Performance Tailored for Competitive Gaming
The UltraGear 27GX700A delivers a 0.03ms GtG response time and a refresh rate of up to 280Hz, positioning it as a strong contender for esports and fast-paced titles. Support for NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro ensures smooth gameplay without screen tearing or stuttering. The monitor’s nearly bezel-less design on all four sides makes it suitable for multi-display setups, offering a clean and immersive viewing experience. LG’s anti-reflection technology maintains image clarity even in challenging lighting environments.
Set to launch in South Korea and China first, the monitor will be available in Hungary starting October 2025. Its combination of high-speed performance and advanced display technology makes it a notable entry in the premium gaming monitor market. LG’s approach reflects a growing demand for displays that balance visual fidelity with responsiveness. The company aims to meet the expectations of serious gamers while introducing innovations that push the boundaries of OLED design.
