Samsung has officially unveiled One UI 8, its next-generation user interface designed to deliver a more adaptive and secure experience across Galaxy devices. Built on multimodal artificial intelligence, the update aims to streamline everyday interactions by offering context-aware suggestions and personalized tools. Initially launching with the Galaxy S25 series, the rollout will soon extend to the Galaxy S24 lineup, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, S24 FE, and other models. The company positions One UI 8 as a step toward more intuitive and privacy-conscious mobile computing.

Privacy Tools and Predictive Features

One UI 8 introduces several features that respond to user context while reinforcing data protection. The Now Bar, available on the Galaxy Z Flip’s cover screen, now supports third-party apps and displays media and app status at a glance. With Now Brief, users receive daily summaries including traffic updates, reminders, and content recommendations based on subscriptions and interests—plus quick access to Galaxy Watch health data. Samsung’s Knox KEEP provides encrypted storage that isolates sensitive data per app, while Knox Matrix adds automatic logout from Samsung accounts in risky situations, along with alerts and privacy guidance. Secure Wi-Fi connections are further strengthened by post-quantum cryptography (PQC), even on public networks.

The new interface leverages image, voice, and contextual input to enable more natural communication with Galaxy AI. Gemini Live processes on-screen or camera-captured content in real time, allowing users to interact with their assistant more fluidly. A new “circle to search” gesture delivers instant game-related tips and strategies, and supports live translation during scrolling or tapping. These features aim to reduce friction in everyday tasks while expanding the role of AI beyond voice commands.

Unified Experience Across Devices

Samsung has optimized One UI 8 for seamless performance across its ecosystem, from phones to wearables. AI Results View displays generated content in a separate pane while preserving the original screen, improving multitasking. The multi-window function allows direct insertion of AI-generated text and images into workflows, enhancing productivity. Gemini Live is also available on the Flip’s cover screen, enabling hands-free voice searches and assistant access. Additional tools include a one-tap audio editor for removing background noise, a dynamic clock that adapts to wallpapers, and customizable cover screen themes with emojis and color variations.

A notable addition is the Portrait Studio feature, which now supports studio-quality portraits of pets alongside humans. The AI engine is capable of capturing subtle facial expressions, offering more expressive results. This expansion reflects growing interest in pet photography among smartphone users, especially in markets like South Korea and Japan where pet ownership is high. According to recent surveys, over 60% of Galaxy users who use portrait mode have tried it on animals, prompting Samsung to refine its algorithms for fur texture and eye detail.

One UI 8 represents Samsung’s continued investment in AI-driven personalization and privacy. While the rollout is gradual, the feature set suggests a broader shift toward multimodal interaction and cross-device intelligence.
