  • Samsung has introduced its most advanced Odyssey gaming monitors to date, unveiling five new models that emphasize higher resolutions, faster refresh rates and new forms of visual immersion.
  • The lineup includes the world’s first 6K glasses‑free 3D gaming monitor and the first display capable of reaching a 1,040Hz refresh rate.
  • These additions reflect Samsung’s continued push to lead the high‑performance gaming display market.

A New Generation of High‑End Gaming Displays

Samsung Electronics has revealed its 2026 Odyssey lineup, presenting a collection of monitors designed to push the limits of display technology. The announcement includes the company’s first 6K 3D Odyssey G9, alongside the next‑generation Odyssey G6 and three new Odyssey G8 models. Executives described the lineup as a step toward display experiences that were not technically feasible even a year ago. The focus is on delivering higher clarity, faster motion handling and more immersive visuals for both gamers and creators.

The company highlighted its commitment to advancing monitor performance through new panel technologies and faster processing. These improvements aim to support modern gaming environments where high frame rates and detailed graphics are increasingly common. Samsung emphasized that the new models were built to meet the expectations of users who demand both speed and visual precision. The lineup reflects broader industry trends toward ultra‑high‑resolution displays and adaptive refresh rate technologies.

Each model in the 2026 Odyssey series targets a different segment of the gaming and creative community. Some displays prioritize resolution, while others focus on motion clarity or contrast. This approach allows users to select a monitor that aligns with their preferred balance of performance characteristics. The variety also underscores Samsung’s strategy of offering specialized solutions rather than a single flagship device.

Odyssey 3D and G6 Introduce World‑First Technologies

The 32‑inch Odyssey 3D (G90XH) debuts as the world’s first 6K glasses‑free 3D gaming monitor. Real‑time eye tracking adjusts depth and perspective based on the viewer’s position, creating a layered sense of dimension without requiring a headset. Its 6K resolution, 165Hz refresh rate boosted to 330Hz through Dual Mode and 1ms GtG response time support smooth, uninterrupted gameplay. Samsung collaborated with game studios to optimize 3D effects for select titles, including The First Berserker: Khazan, Lies of P: Overture and Stellar Blade.

The 27‑inch Odyssey G6 (G60H) introduces another industry first with a 1,040Hz refresh rate enabled through Dual Mode. Native QHD support up to 600Hz provides esports‑level motion clarity for competitive players. The monitor is designed to help users track fast‑moving targets and maintain visibility during rapid gameplay sequences. Support for AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G‑Sync Compatible ensures stable, tear‑free performance.

Samsung positioned the G6 as a display built for high‑speed gaming scenarios where reaction time is critical. Its ability to switch between performance modes allows users to adapt the monitor to different game genres. The combination of high refresh rates and low latency aims to deliver a responsive experience across a wide range of titles. These features reflect the growing demand for displays that can keep pace with modern competitive gaming.

Odyssey G8 Series Expands With 6K, 5K and OLED Options

The Odyssey G8 series is expanding with three new models offering different combinations of resolution and speed. Leading the lineup, the 32‑inch Odyssey G8 (G80HS) becomes the industry’s first 6K gaming monitor with native 165Hz performance and Dual Mode support up to 330Hz in 3K mode. The 27‑inch Odyssey G8 (G80HF) provides a 5K option with native 180Hz support and a boost to 360Hz in QHD for smoother motion. These models target users who want sharper detail and larger workspaces for gaming or content creation.

For those who prioritize contrast and color depth, the 32‑inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH) pairs a 4K QD‑OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate. Its Glare Free coating, 300‑nit brightness and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification support high‑quality HDR performance. DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20) enables up to 80Gbps bandwidth for seamless HDR and variable refresh rate playback. All three G8 models support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G‑Sync Compatible for consistent frame delivery.

Samsung continues to lead the global gaming monitor market for displays above 144Hz, holding an 18.8 percent revenue share according to IDC. The company expects the new Odyssey lineup to help maintain its No. 1 position for the seventh consecutive year. These monitors will be showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, where attendees can test the new features firsthand. The event will serve as the first public demonstration of the full 2026 Odyssey series.

One notable detail is that glasses‑free 3D displays rely heavily on eye‑tracking algorithms originally developed for mobile devices and AR headsets. These technologies have now matured enough to support high‑resolution desktop monitors. Their integration into gaming displays suggests that future 3D experiences may expand beyond entertainment into productivity and simulation. Analysts expect continued experimentation with 3D interfaces as hardware capabilities improve.
